Resident organizations are groups that reside within SOMArts, provide ongoing programs for the community, and work collaboratively with the Cultural Center.

ArtSpan is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building connections within San Francisco’s visual arts community and between artists and the general public. ArtSpan produces San Francisco Open Studios and Art for Inner City Youth, publishes sf open studios: the guide, organizes workshops to help artists with their professional development, and holds Selections, a biennial juried art exhibition.

Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center (APICC) supports and nurtures the artistic endeavors of the San Francisco Bay Area Asian Pacific Islander community. Through collaboration, sponsorship, producing and presenting, APICC supports the development and growth of multidisciplinary art. We empower the diverse voices of our community to reflect their unique experiences as Asian Pacific Islanders living in America.

Chrysalis Printmaking Studio serves as an artist incubator and provides affordable classes for printmakers, particularly in the areas of relief printing and monotype. The studio also offers a free drop-in class for LGBTQ youth.

Queer Cultural Center is a multi-racial community-building organization that fosters the artistic, economic and cultural development of San Francisco’s LGBT community. By presenting, screening and documenting queer artists’ work, Qcc contributes to the development of a multicultural perspective on the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender experience.

San Francisco Shorin-Ryn Shorinkan Okinawan Karate and Kobudo Dojo teaches karate in the tradition of the old Okinawan masters—as an effective means of self-defense, but more importantly as a philosophy in which to develop the body, mind and spirit to their maximum potential.

Sixth Street Photography Workshop aims to awaken creatively and to help those who are otherwise unempowered develop a voice.
