What happens when we trust disorder? When we trust a moment and just make?
The News, created by Kolmel WithLove and presented by SOMArts, spotlights queer experiments, debut works and works-in-progress by pre-selected solo artists, groups and troupes. On January 8, 2013, 7:30pm to 9pm, hosting guest curator Laura Arrington facilitates Breaking News, a one-night-only radical collaboration honoring the core values behind The News: to aid in the creation of new queer work and provide a place where Bay Area performance makers can take risks and identify new collaborators. The audience is invited to watch improvisational, collaborative and in-process performances created during the event, or to become part of the action.
“As a participant in Keith Hennessy’s “Turbulence” I was afforded resources of space, time, bodies and relationships to do what thrilled me, to do what bored me, to do what turned me on and shut me down. I want to share a taste of that experience.” – Laura Arrington
