Call to Artists–UCSF’s Temporary Art Projects for the Construction Site Perimeter

What: A Request of Qualifications for a public art project

This temporary art project for the Medical Center at Mission Bay construction site perimeter will be the first project in an ambitious art program.  It will reflect UCSF’s commitment to integrate art into the fabric of the new facilities as well as engage the surrounding community. The fence will be in use for approximately 3 years and the selected projects may be rotated or may remain for the duration of the construction process with the possibility of becoming a permanent art project within the hospitals.

Requirements for submission of qualifications:

All submissions will be made online at www.gregoirebaer.com and must include the following as requested under submittal:

1.      Contact information. If applying as a team, please designate a lead artist as the primary contact.

2.      Statement of interest indicating an approach for the project and related community experience: 250 – 500 words in length

3.      Resume (up to 3 pages).

4.      Up to Fifteen (15) images in Power Point Presentation. Images need to be 1024 x 768 pixels. Each slide should include title, year, dimensions, media, and brief description of project.

Selection of Finalists:             By February 18, 2011

Site visits:                              February 22 – 28, 2011

Proposals Due:                      March 25, 2011

Projects begin:                       May/June, 2011
