Una Planta y Seis Cuerdas: Flamenco Performance, June 26 & 27

by Christine Fu

Two evenings of flamenco music and dance performed by over 30 dancers, singers and musicians. A Caminos Flamencos production by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Yaelisa features her flamenco school at all levels, accompanied by world-class musicians in new and exciting choreographies celebrating the joy of flamenco.

The program includes original music by guitarist Jason McGuire “El Rubio,” and the talented singer/dancers La Reyes, from San Diego, Clara Rodriguez, and Yaelisa herself, along with musicians maestro McGuire on guitar, Marlon Aldana, percussion, and Paul Martin Sounder on upright bass.

Yaelisa presents her School of Flamenco students from beginners to advanced in all new exciting choreographies, staged and directed by Yaelisa as a year-end homage to the dedication and love of flamenco they all feel. For the first time in many years, she is including her beginner classes in these performances. Last year’s performances at SOMArts were sold out, so advance tickets are recommended—the price goes up after June 10.
