Cathy Lu’s work is inspired by the often conflicting notions of identity: the relationship between the self and the body, and individual’s relationships to those around them. Working both sculpturally and in drawings, each of her pieces explore how our physical bodies affect our relationship to the world around us.  She has exhibited locally at various places such as Aggregate Space, Root Division, Pro Arts, and Somarts, as well as exhibited her ceramic work in Jingdezhen China. She received her MFA from SFAI in 2010, and currently lives and works in San Francisco.
