IMAGO
THEATRE COMPANY
PRESENTS
THE TRANS-AMERICAN TOUR OF
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S
THE TEMPEST
|
England's
Imago Theatre Company return with William Shakespeare's The
Tempest following their highly acclaimed tour of Metamorphosis
in 1999. The Tempest was Shakespeare's last play and this production
explores the theory that Prospero is possibly written to be
Shakespeare himself. The creative and colourful production,
which is trailing from the East coast to the West coast of America
during the summer, offers a vibrant avant-garde version of this
well-known text using both American and English actors.

..............................................................................
The Imago Theatre Company was formed in January 1992, in order
to give its members the opportunity to experience a wide range
of theatre and theatre crafts, in an environment where creativity
is given the freedom and is in no way fettered by convention and
prejudice. The nucleus of the company, described in 1992 by 'The
New York Times' as a "highly professional young company", is formed
by students of Weston College and Weston Sixth Form College, although
many members are young people drawn in from the wider community.
The company aims to stage a high percentage of experimental and
controversial work, which extends actors to the limits of their
capabilities.
