Expressions in Exile
Artwork by Cuban Born - Luis Alberto Garcia
guest curator Marta Ayala

Luis Alberto Garcia graduated from "the San Alejandro National School of Art" in La Habana, Cuba. He studies sculpture and drawing. He was contemporary of Choco, well known printmaker in Habana.

Garcia lives in San Francisco now and is very proud to present his art at somArts Gallery. He left over 200 pieces of artwork on the island, when he left, due to customs restrictions.

The work presented in this exhibit was done in the past year. He taught art at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in East Palo Alto and He, also, has collaborated with Marta Ayala in the making of two rather large murals in the Mission District of San Francisco.

He has exhibited his work in many galleries in the Bay Area as well as in Salons in Cuba.
