Afghan
Art and Film Festival – San Francisco engagement.
June 28 - 29, 2005
On June 28 & 29, Afghan art and crafts will be on display along with simultaneous showings of over 15 films from Afghanistan. Through this project, Afghan Communicator hopes to promote Afghan art and culture, as well as educate people about Afghanistan and the Afghan community.
The festival is co-sponsored in the Bay Area by Society of Afghan Professionals (SAP – www.bapd.org/gsoals-1.html). All proceeds raised from the Afghan Art & Film Festival will benefit artists in Afghanistan.
Including in the festival are classic and new Afghan films, artwork and handcrafts from different parts of Afghanistan. This is a realistic effort to help the Afghanistan reconstruction process and its people through a dignified, expressive, and meaningful project at the grassroots level.
Opening reception is on Wednesday at 6 pm; however, films and arts will be on display on Tuesday from 6 pm – 10 pm and on Wednesday from 12 pm – 10 pm, execept during the reception. Film admission is $5/block of films. Day and weekend passes are also available.
