What: Interpreting Art History through 3D and Interactivity

Illuminations: Día de los Muertos 2011 curators Rio & René Yañez, along with support from Mike Dingle, will create a special two night only environmental installation during Feista Friday Nights at the de Young Museum. The installation will include performance installation by members of Circus Bella and the Oakland Improv Collective.
A café themed set with 3D images will host performance tableau and freeze motions by actors playing Dora Maar, Henry Miller, Josephine Baker, and a harlequin character. There will be photo opportunities for the public to pose with characters who were inspired by the Yañez’ interpretation of Pablo Picasso’s life, and an artist will paint a replica of Picasso’s Guernica.
The Piazzoni Murals Room is part of the “free zone” of the museum with no museum admission required.
Don’t forget to come to SOMArts on October 7th to for the opening reception for Illuminations, Día de los Muertos 2011, curated by Rio & Rene Yañez and dedicated to Pablo Picasso. The opening reception features a performance by Herbert Siguenza (of Culture Clash fame) performing and live painting as Picasso.
