One exhibiting artist fought the law to the tune of three life sentences and won. Wednesday hear Mark McCloud talk about defending his collection of acid blotter art along with his own liberty in court, and experience two other artist & attorney pairings in I Am Crime: Art on the Edge of Law.
For this panel, three exhibiting artists are matched with local attorneys who are experts in intellectual property, immigration, and criminal law to illuminate legal issues within their work. The discussion is moderated by artist and attorney JD Beltran and features artists Ray Beldner, Julio Salgado/Dreamers Adrift, and Mark McCloud, and attorneys Simon Frankel (Partner, Covington & Burling) Hendrik Pretorius (Vaughan de Kirby) and Tony Serra.
More information about the exhibition, including the dates of the closing reception and an accompanying film screening, can be found here.
