Looking Forward, Giving Back 2016, April 26

Looking Forward, Giving Back is a celebration of the amazing talent and hard work of the youth artists in First Exposures as well as of the community of volunteers and concerned adults that make the program possible. This special night provides our youth with the amazing opportunity to exhibit their work and interact with the community as the burgeoning artists that they are. The night will feature a silent auction of student and mentor photographs as well as a presentation by students and alumni. Please join us!

First Exposures makes a major long-term difference in the lives of high-need, underserved San Francisco Bay Area youth by providing a venue for them to enhance their self-confidence, develop their creativity, and gain a passion for learning. Each student is matched with a photographer who provides individualized guidance and support. Photography is the catalyst by which our students acquire vital life skills, and it is the vehicle through which we deepen their intellectual, academic and developmental experiences.

Looking Forward, Giving Back is presented at SOMArts through participation in the Affordable Space Program, which provides below-market rental space, production and publicity assistance to nonprofit organizations, individual artists and other events and classes that meet our mission. For more information visit our rentals page.

The mission of SOMArts is to cultivate access to the arts within the Bay Area by collaborating with community-focused artists and organizations, and to engage the power of the arts to provoke just and fair inclusion, cultural respect, and civic participation.
