The opening reception for Man as Object: Reversing the Gaze features the unveiling of 117 works of art by women artists which place reverse conventional hierarchies in the culture of display.
Chanel Matsunami Govreau will perform her new piece “Hapa Bruthas,” an exploration of Hapa male and Asian male sexuality, brotherhood, and the effects of interracial dating in Asian American communities from a mixed-Asian woman’s perspective.
The evening will also include the dedication of Sylvia Sleigh’s painting “Lawrence and Susana Delgado” to Mills College.
