What: Feast of Words: A Storytelling Potluck, including readings, quickwrite, potluck and open mic
When: Monthly on first Tuesdays, Oct 5 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Open mic signup starts at 6:30pm

How much: Sliding scale, $10-$6, NOTAFLOF. Free with potluck dish. Advance tickets strongly recommended.

Join co-hosts Lex Leifheit & Irina Zadov at a monthly event that is part potluck, part inspiration, part open mic and part quick-write.  Discover local writers and featured foodies, pick up your pencil (or smartphone) to participate in the Three-Sentence Throwdown, bring a theme-based work of 8-minutes or less for open mic, or just sit back and enjoy the show! $10 suggested donation or FREE with a potluck item. Cash bar.

October’s theme is HEALING in honor of the upcoming Day of the Dead exhibition at SOMArts.Open mic signup begins at 6:30pm and space is limited. October’s featured guest is author Darren de Leon.

October’s Feast of Words is proudly part of LITQUAKE 2010. Future Feast of Words events will take place on the first Tuesday of each month.

Darren J. de Leon is an award-winning poet from San Bernardino, playwright, radio producer, street DJ, high school teacher, and community activist. He has published poetry in various publication including New Chicano/Chicana Writings (University of Arizona Press), Cipactli, and Fourteen Hills.

Lex Leifheit is the executive director of SOMArts Cultural Center. She co-founded the High Street Writers Collective in Connecticut and has organized readings online, on street corners, and in storefronts as well as hallowed institutions.

Irina Zadov is the Director of Experience and Programs at Zeum: San Francisco Children’s Museum. She is a practicing artist with a passion for bringing people together through food, stories, and romps through the imagination.
