Our region is rife with pressing questions. Among them, how do Bay Area residents view their short-term circumstances and long-term prospects? How can images help us understand our differences and embrace our common values? Let’s talk about it! Join us from 6-9pm, Friday, November 13 at SOMArts for the opening of Status Update, a new exhibition of photography and video about change, chance and inequality in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Produced by Catchlight and curated by Pete Brook and Rian Dundon, Status Update features fourteen artists, born of the documentary tradition, who offer a variety of perspectives and context for the rapidly changing environment around us. The works in this exhibit move beyond the latest tech discussions to address housing, education, immigration, history and a host of other issues affecting people on a daily basis.
Status Update brings fresh perspective to familiar issues and encourages the broader community to get involved in the conversation. Stay tuned for upcoming details about the weekend’s full program of accompanying events.
Looking forward to seeing you at SOMArts on opening night! Open and free to the public. RSVP here.
This event is presented at SOMArts through participation in the Affordable Space Program, which provides below-market rental space, production and publicity assistance to nonprofit organizations. For more information visit our rentals page.
