AH MER AH SU hosts The News, September 6, 2016

On the first Tuesday of each month, SOMArts Cultural Center presents The News, featuring new, queer work by Bay Area artists. On Tuesday, September 6, The News is guest-hosted by Ah-Mer-Ah-Su, and promises a night of interdisciplinary and experimental queer performance by Bay Area artists!

Don’t miss this night featuring the legendary and the soon to be legendary performers: Ah-Mer-A Su, Andrew Sheets, tatiana luboviski-acosta, Tyler Holmes, and Gina DeVries!

Admission is FREE! SOMArts is offering free admission in hopes that if you can afford to donate, you will support the artists onstage when the hat passes. RSVP on EventBrite to guarantee a seat.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES:

Andrew Sheets, with the stage name of Meredeath, is a performance artist and filmmaker practicing in the Bay Area for the past six years. Within the genre of horror he explores gendered roles in cinema and often plays multiple parts to make up a dreaded narrative. Turning himself inside-out to reveal her blood-glistening raw form. You’ll find her as the monster under your bed or the unsuspecting virgin atop the mattress. The final girl or the knife itself. Please check out his feature length film, Alone Not Alone, to see as one single body is surreally dipped and dragged through its own living space as the fourth installment to Roman Polanski’s ‘Apartment Triology.’ Visit AloneNotAlone.com.

Tyler Holmes is a dead girl living in Oakland. Their music is about exorcising the traumas experienced by QTPOC in the dogmatic and nightmare dimension we live in. In an increasingly electronic, aggressive, haunted tone. Using the human voice as a backbone by sampling, looping and contorting it to mirror the human presence in our increasingly computerized world.
